
Daytona College was founded in April 1996 as the Daytona Institute of Massage Therapy.
In its early years, the school focused entirely on the training of massage therapists to serve
the needs of Daytona, Orlando, Ormond Beach, St. Augustine and surrounding Florida
communities. The school became accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career
Schools and Colleges as a main school in 2004 and earned its degree-granting status in
2006.
The outlook for Massage Therapists, Skincare Specialists Cosmetologists and Nail
Specialists looks very promising with faster than average growth in career opportunities
according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Career opportunities for Massage
Therapists is projected to increase 20 percent from 2006 to 2016.
